Dear Member of Parliament, I'm writing as your constituent about Canada's shortage of family doctors and the internationally educated health professionals who could help fill it. - About 5.9 million Canadians don't have regular primary care (OurCare, 2025). - Canada has 259,695 internationally educated health professionals, and more than half aren't working in a health occupation (Statistics Canada, 2021 Census). - Licensing typically takes 3 to 7+ years, and in 2026 only about half of international medical graduates matched to a residency on the first iteration (CaRMS). I'm asking you to support: 1. A faster, more consistent licensing pathway for internationally educated health professionals. 2. Fair, timely recognition of foreign credentials. 3. Financial help with exam and licensing fees. 4. A supervised practice licence so qualified professionals can work safely while they complete licensing.
